May 24th - Two Spring Poems
Two Spring Poems.
#1.
Spring.
Winter's air has a plastic cleanliness to it
But I woke up this morning with the scent of lilies at the tip of my first thoughts.
Spring is like a wedding
A community event with choices of participation
#2
Spring.
I woke up this morning with the scent of lilies at the tip of my first thoughts and I got to work right away trying to find the perfect words for it.
I looked over at the placid peacefulness of my daughter sleeping next to me in bed, but, as joyful as the sight of her was, the fog from her mouth clearly didn't capture the full rapture of this spring phenomenon that changes the entire experience of breathing.
I needed something more momentous - a personal experience shared around and committed to memory.
Certain that this would be the most important thing I did for the day, I took a nap.
When I woke up it had started to rain and it smelled like worms.
