March 12th - Starting From Seed

Starting From Seed

Crocuses are stretching their backs and tulips have opened their mouths to drink up the spring. The day starts before the coffee percolates. A new moon shines in the day sky. The sun stays proud past dinnertime and the nightcrawlers poke their heads out and say, "what's up?" to the first robins returned home. Dreams are wiped from eyes by warm hands where the memory of a firm grip gives traction to a new season's desires.

Winter's contemplations become today's actions.

Trees conduct birdsong in spring winds, and they push pollen out to eager bees. Sap runs from winter pruning and is collected by industrious ants into their underground palaces, where I imagine the Bolsheviks amongst them are probably meeting in secret caches to overthrow the monarchy.

Time to start seeds in the basement where the green of summer is hidden like a heart in a cyborg.
